The Kecskemét Young Theater Workshop – Morbid Stage’s (Hungary) performance entitled „Where did you go boatman“ fully reflects the harsh reality of today’s world, but presents it all in a much friendlier way, woven into the story of a fairytale world.
This is practically Sándor Weöres’s (Hungarian writer) drama entitled “The Boatman on the Moon”. The story was important to them from the point of view that they covered the issues of trust hidden in everyday human relationships, trust between young people and adults, or trust between men and women. They tried to process this first with dramatic means, and then, during the stage production, to formulate sentences and messages that can be broken down further and actually raise even more questions, thereby motivating the young people to talk about it.
Sándor Weöres’s drama Boatman on the Moon is a school curriculum and a significant contemporary work of the national core curriculum. After the performance, the audience was also involved in the processing of what they had seen during the experience workshops. The experiences were processed together with experiential theater tools, extracting the phrases and messages spoken during the stage production.
